‘Shut in’ pensioner has not received cash grant and pension book for 2024

Dear Editor,

I am an eighty-nine (89) year-old disabled pensioner who is registered as a ‘shut in’ as I had 2 strokes and am unable to walk, see or hear clearly. To date (29 January 2024) I have not received the cash grant and pension book for 2024. I had asked a helper to call the Ministry of Human Services on my behalf on Tele-phone Number: 223-6027 but this number’s answering message says to ‘dial 3 to get to the Social Services Department’ but no one answered since the beginning of the year. Another number was called (225-6202) and the person who answered said she is the Supervisor for the Social Worker responsible for the area where I live but refused to take a message to pass on to the Social Worker that I have not yet received the cash grant and pension book. Another call was made to the Minister’s office, two weeks ago, and the Secretary took all the relevant information and said she would pass it to the Social Services Department – however no one has contacted me.

Sincerely,

(Name and Address Withheld)
