A vendor has been charged by the police for having a gun without a licence after he visited the Brickdam station for a renewal of the document when he didn’t have one in the first place.

In a release yesterday, the police said that Cyril Joseph Dyer called ‘Bling’, a 45-year-old fast food vendor of Light Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, was arrested on 2024-01-26 by Superintendent Roberts at the Brickdam Police Station, and charged yesterday with the following offences:

(1) Possession of a Firearm without a licence, (one 9mm Glock pistol).

(2) Possession of Ammunition without a licence (thirteen 9mm rounds of ammunition).

At about 4 pm on January 26th, 2024, the release said that Dyer visited the office of Superintendent Roberts at the Brick-dam Police Station to have his firearm licence renewed at which time it was discovered that he was not a holder of a firearm licence.

The accused appeared yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate (ag) Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus where she read both charges to him. He pleaded not guilty to both charges, and bail was granted in the sum of $100,000.

The matter was adjourned to 2024-02-21 for disclosure.
