Dartmouth motorcyclist dies after colliding with dog

A 22-year-old motorcyclist died following an accident along the Evergreen Public Road, Essequibo Coast, on Thursday night.

Dead is Kenford Stephens of Lot 9 Public Road, Dartmouth Village, Essequibo Coast.

Enquiries revealed that at about 21.54 hours on Thursday, Stephens was riding his motorcycle in a southerly direction on the Evergreen Public Road, Essequibo Coast, reportedly at a fast rate. His friends who were also heading in the same direction on motorcycles related that they observed Stephens lying flat on his motorcycle performing a stunt.

The friends added they then saw Stephen’s motorcycle topple several times. When they approached him, he was lying on the road with froth coming from his mouth, and a dog was lying motionless at the scene. They then picked Stephen up and rushed him to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital in Charity where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is currently at the Charity funeral parlour awaiting a post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Neika Boston, the mother of the deceased, told the Sunday Stabroek that on Thursday she left her son home and went to Georgetown. She relayed that she later received a phone call from a family member informing her that her son had been  involved in an accident. She said she couldn’t say what happened but according to what she heard Stephens was riding his motorcycle when a dog ran across the road and caused him to fall..
