A 27-year-old miner of Bartica was found with 15 .32 rounds of ammunition during a search by ranks of Regional Division Seven on mobile patrol yesterday morning.

According to a police press release, at about 01:30 hrs yesterday, police in Regional Division Seven were on mobile patrol duties and while in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue Bartica, they  observed a heavily-tinted Rush motor vehicle with the licence plate PVV 3605.

They stopped the vehicle and found that Richard Kissoon, a 27-year-old miner of Bartica, was the driver and only occupant. The ranks then requested to conduct a search for illegal items to which he agreed, the press release stated.

Police said 15 .32 rounds of ammunition were found in a bulky parcel wrapped in white paper and transparent scotch tape in Kissoon’s right hand.

He was told of the offence committed, cautioned and arrested. He was escorted to Bartica Police Station and taken into custody. Investigations are continuing.
