Akeem Persaud became the latest recipient of the ‘Cricket Gear for Young and Promising Cricketers in Guyana’ project following the acquisition of several pieces of equipment.

This was confirmed by an official release from the organisation. According to the correspondence, the 14-year-old all-rounder, who is a member of Malteenoes Sports Club and a student at Annandale Secondary, was the recipient of a gear bag, a pair of batting pads, a pair of batting gloves, a pair of cricket shoes, and a bat.

Collecting on behalf of the player was his mother, Farida Gayadin, who thanked the organisation for their timely and significant gesture.

In excess of 70 players from all three counties have been beneficiaries of the initiative. Additionally, two clubs in the Pomeroon area benefited from two used bats. Pomeroon, Leguan, and Wakenaam Cricket Committees and Cotton Tree Die Hard also received one box of red cricket balls each, and Cold Fusion Cricket Club received thirteen coloured uniforms.
