Three Under-15 cricketers from the Pomeroon, Essequibo, were recipients of cricket gear from the “Cricket gear for young and promising cricketers in Guyana Project.’

The 14-year-olds, Ronaldo Casiemero, Usane Rose and Harold DeMattos were the outstanding performers at the recent Under-15 tournament run by the Pomeroon Cricket Committee.

This initiative is a joint effort between Kishan Das of the United States of America and Anil Beharry of Guyana.

Three bats, two pairs of batting pads and four pairs of batting gloves were recently handed over to Sherman Austin for distribution.

Two of the three bats will be handed over shortly, according to a press release from the group.

The aim is to provide cricket gear free of cost to young and talented cricketers in Guyana.

The project is seeking new and used cricket gear which will then be distributed across the length and breadth of Guyana.

So far, the project has raised cash for first aid kit, two cricket boots, 12 pairs of batting pads, 11 bats, nine pairs of batting gloves and four cricket bats.

Some 16 young players from Essequibo Coast, Pomeroon and the East Canje, Berbice area have already benefited.

“Talent spotting will be done across Guyana along with guidance from club leaders to identify the players. Players must be in school and discipline. Players above school age will also be considered,” the release stated.

“Das and Beharry would like to thank Imran and Javed Khan of West Indian Sports Complex, Option Group, Bish Panday of P and P Insurance Brokers, Sean Devers, Travis Simon, Hilbert Foster of RHTY&SC, Ariel Tilku, Aaron Beharry, Devon Ramnauth, Sherman Austin, Teddy Singh, Leana Bachan and Imran Saccoor, Romash Munna and Vishal Mahabir. More distribution will be done as soon as gear arrives from the USA,” the release stated.
