Corentyne man gets 45 months over ganja, another pleads not guilty

Abdool Shakoor and Yogindra Bheemsingh yesterday appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Whim Magis-trate’s Court, according to the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit.

Shakoor, of Lot 36, No.78 Village, Corriverton pleaded guilty to the offence of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking to wit 64.6 kg of cannabis and was sentenced to 45 months imprisonment together with a fine of $58,140,000.

Bheemsingh of Bank Road, Corriverton, pleaded not guilty to the offence of procuring narcotics to wit 64.6kg of cannabis and was remanded to prison until the 20th of March 2024.
