The police are  investigating an accident that claimed the life of a 23-year-old unlicensed driver on Sunday night.

Dead is Timothy Kublall, a construction worker of Lot 102 Enterprise Squatting Area  who at the time of his demise was driving motorcar PRR 6860.  According to his mother, Peggy Veerasammy, her son who resides with her, came home that night with a car that belongs to his friend who lives in Non-Pariel. Kublall’s brother told him to let his friend collect the car since he was unlicensed.

Veerasammy noted that against his brother’s advice, Kublall drove away in the car and about 9 pm the night, she received a call informing her that her son had driven into the Non-Pareil Sideline dam trench. She told this newspaper that she later learnt that her son was under the influence of alcohol as he was drinking with his friends earlier.

Enquiries disclosed that the car was proceeding west at a fast rate when the driver lost control and ended up in a nearby trench. Kublall was taken out by public-spirited citizens and transported in a police vehicle to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
