Defending champion, the Guyana Harpy Eagles, lead the West Indies Academy by 178 runs following the conclusion of day two at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua and Barbuda in the Cricket West Indies 4-Day Championship.

The Harpy Eagles, who were bundled out for 175 in the first innings, sit on 165/5 from 65 overs, as their spinners denied the West Indies Academy from securing a lead following the latter’s dismissal for 162 in 49 overs.

10 of the 11 wickets to be dismissed yesterday fell to spinners, as Veerasammy Permaul and Gudakesh Motie recorded figures of 3-15 and 3-31, respectively, to aid Kevin Sinclair’s initial haul of 4-45 from Wednesday. Resuming on 96-4, the academy lost their remaining six wickets for 66 runs.

At one point, the Academy was pleasantly perched on 128/4.

The Guyanese, in their second outing, faced a similar threat in the form of countryman Ashmead Nedd, who registered 4-27 off 26 overs.

Kemol Savoury and Kevin Sinclair remain unbeaten on 20 and 16, respectively, as vice-captain Kevlon Anderson fell short of a half century with 49, while Tevin Imlach and Tagenarine Chanderpaul tallied 29 and 22 runs apiece.

Meanwhile, at Warner Park in St. Kitts and Nevis, the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force trail the Leeward Islands Hurricanes by 133 runs. Red Force, who were dismissed for 137 in the first inning, sit on 48/0 in their second inning.

Vikash Mohan and C. Cooper are in 25 and 21 runs, respectively. Leeward Islands, in their first inning, posted an imposing 318 in 98.2 overs, led by an 87 from Jewel Andrew and a 65 from Kieran Powell.

Supporting with 41 runs was Jeremiah Louis. Anderson Phillip was the pick of the Red Force bowlers with figures of 4-62, while Bryan Charles snared 3-81.

At Sabina Park in Jamaica, the Barbados Pride leads the home side, the Jamaica Scorpions, who recorded 269 in their first inning, by 45 runs after tallying 313/6 from 95.3 overs. Kraigg Brathwaite recorded an unbeaten 129, while Kevin Wickham supported with 63 runs.

Over at Chedwin Park, Jamaica, the Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) Marooners, who were skittled for 204 in the first innings, trail the Windward Islands Volcanoes by 154 runs after the latter amassed 358/6 from 99 overs. Kavem Hodge led the volcanoes with an undefeated 130, alongside an unbeaten 120 from Sunil Ambris.
