Guyana to open Women’s Super50 campaign against the Leeward Islands

Guyana will open their campaign against the Leeward Islands in the Cricket West Indies Super50 Cup and against Trinidad and Tobago in the T20 Blaze, following the official publication of the respective fixtures by Cricket West Indies (CWI).

The Guyanese will oppose the Leeward Islands on March 4th, while they will lock horns with Trinidad and Tobago on March 17th. According to an official release, “The CG United Super50 Cup matches will be played at Warner Park, the Conaree Cricket Centre, and St. Paul’s Sports Complex from March 4–25, with the 50-over matches starting at 10 a.m. local time. The T20 Blaze will feature five full days of entertainment for the fans from March 17 to 25 at Warner Park. There will be three daily matches, starting at 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. (under lights).”

Barbados are the defending champions of both events. The other participating teams are the Windward Islands and Jamaica.

Experienced campaigner and West Indies star Shemaine Campbell will captain the Guyana women’s national Super50 and T20 teams.

The Guyana women’s team comprises Mandy Mangru, Realeanna Grimmond, Naomi Barkoye, Shemaine Campbell (captain), Ashmini Munisar, Sheneta Grimmond, Plaffiana Millington, Shabika Gajnabi, Cherry-Ann Fraser (vice-captain), Kaycia Schultz, Niya Latchman, Trisha Hardat, Yonette Welcome, and Cyanna Retimiah.

On the other hand, the standby players are: Letisha Jordan, Melanie Dover, Crystal Durant, Roshanna Harper, Tilleya Madramootoo, Nikesha Narine, Luerene Williams, and Nidia Andrew.

On the management side, Clive Grimmond will serve as the head coach, while Tremayne Smartt and Natisha Mokutnauth will act in the capacities of manager and physiotherapist, respectively. Below are the complete schedules for both tournaments.
