Dear Editor,
The simple act of kindness of former colleague, Sonia Peters, who has been an Airport Security Officer from the inception of the establishment of the security unit at the Airport, has gone viral. She has certainly epitomized and espoused our famous Guyanese hospitality. Sonia has done not only the Airport but all Guyana proud. She must be commended.
Maybe she should be considered the face of customer service at the Airport.
With Guyana on the move and upward trend isn’t it time the move to accepting credit cards be considered by small businesses such as the one in this case? There will be, I am sure, more instances like this in the future and more Sonia Peters may not be around or amenable to lend support to the cause.
These businesses around the Airport need to up their game and become more modernized. Plastic is the way in the modern, travelling world and must be embraced to stay relevant. It may not seem a worthy investment now but the future beckons.
