St. Rose’s, Covent Garden, Diamond record contrasting wins

St. Rose’s High, Covent Garden, Diamond, and New Amsterdam Multilateral recorded respective division wins when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Regional Conference Championships commenced.

In the Georgetown segment, St. Rose’s High defeated West Demerara 37-31. Donny Casper recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Kai McCaulay tallied seven points and 11 rebounds. For the loser, Brandon Nurse recorded 15 points and five rebounds, while Jonathan Richards added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Similarly, Covent Garden edged North Georgetown 24-20. Amaan Yusuff tallied a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. For the loser, Shawn Duncan amassed 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Diamond Secondary defeated St. John’s College 37-25. Benkhai King registered 14 points and six rebounds, while Kymani Jabbar accumulated 14 points and four rebounds. On the other side, Osei Brotherson recorded 10 points and five rebounds, while Royston Kennedy netted nine points.

In the Berbice Conference, the New Amsterdam Multilateral Mauled Corentyne Comprehensive 45–11 Terry Henry led the rout with 15 points and three steals, while Jayden Rampersaud contributed with 11 points and four rebounds. Adding eight points was Tyrese Archer. For the loser, Shane Crawford netted six points.

In other results, Skeldon Line Path defeated Berbice High 15–14. The trio of Isaac Rogers, Alden Angel, and Reason Simon scored four points each. For Berbice High, Avion Kesney and Stephen Buchannan scored seven and four points, respectively.

Also, Lower Corentyne squeaked past Vryman’s Erven 21–18. Leston Lovell and Bryan Williams scored 11 and five points apiece. For the losers, Clint Shemory and Nohaj Baird netted seven and six points apiece.
