(Trinidad Express) Five weeks after he was shot in Enterprise, Chaguanas, a 46-year-old man has died at hospital.

Police confirmed that Rolston De Coteau died around 3 a.m., on Saturday at the Mt Hope Hospital, where he had been warded in an unresponsive state since the incident.

De Coteau lived at Dass Trace, Enterprise, and was said to be a teacher at a “homework class centre” in the area, where he would provide guidance to school children in completing their homework assignments.

De Coteau was heading towards the centre on February 24, and, while walking near the Dass Trace Recreation Grounds around 4.30 p.m., a white Toyota Axio car pulled up alongside him with the occupants opening fire before the car sped off, said police.

Investigators said De Coteau was shot a number of times and taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility before being transferred to the Mt Hope Hospital.

While there he underwent a number of surgical procedures, but never regained consciousness.

Officers of the Region III Homicide Bureau of Investigations are continuing enquiries into his murder.
