Marked absence of context for Nagamootoo’s words

Dear Editor,

I write to register my strongest disapproval of your reportage of Moses Nagamootoo’s book launch; there was a marked absence of fact-checking or analysis. Your reporter, Miranda La Rose, regurgitated Nagamootoo’s words without a care for their veracity or impact; for example, La Rose gives us Nagamootoo’s pitiful tale of eviction from the Prime Minister’s residence without the contextual framework of his government’s participation in the attempt to steal the 2020 Elections and subvert democracy. Moses says he was told to ‘walk home’, he should have been made accountable for his government’s subversive actions, in my opinion.

Editor, in a decade of writing on local issues, this is my first criticism of Stabroek News and I sincerely hope it is my last, your newspaper has been ‘the gold standard’ for many years, and it would be remiss if I allowed such an atrocious article to go without protest; readers rely on good newspapers to ‘treat’ statements by anyone much like GWI treats our water, least we are lured into unsuspecting consumption of bilge.

Sincerely

Robin Singh
