Man, 26, shot five times at La Penitence

A 26-year-old man is now hospitalized after he was shot five times on Monday morning by two men on a motorcycle at Middle Road, La Penitence.

According to a police release, Shane Bourne was shot four times to his right thigh and once to his left thigh by one of the two men on the motorcycle, around 11:30 am on Monday. Following the shooting the men fled the scene and Bourne was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens and is listed in stable condition.

Investigation continues.

In October last year Bourne, whose address was listed as Lot 2009 Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt was charged along with Ryan Goodluck with attempted murder and appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.

It was alleged that on October 12, 2023, while at Independence Boulevard, one of two men discharged a loaded firearm at 18-year-old Sherwin Bobb, 41-year-old Seon Ross, and 37-year-old Hamilton Dickerson.

During that investigation, it was revealed that the victims and defendants were known to each other. The victims had gathered on the avenue. Bourne and Goodluck, who were on motorcycle CM 6629, parked away from where the trio were and walked towards them with a handgun. One person fired multiple shots in their direction.

As a result of the shooting Bobb was hopsitalised in a critical condition.

The prosecution had revealed in court that they were in possession of the CCTV footage which captured the entire incident. They had asked the court to consider that one of the defendants was before the courts for armed robbery. The men were remanded until November 21st 2023.
