Amna Ally would never betray the PNC

Dear Editor,

I hold no brief for Amna Ally. In fact, I do not believe she likes me but she is not racist and would never betray the PNC by having any association with the PPP. Amna’s navel string is buried in Congress Place and she has been a fierce defender of the PNC to the point where she would be brutal with her comrades in the Party, regardless of their ethnicity, if she felt they were not working in the interest of the party she loves and dedicated her life to serve. She is known to be strict and at times bullish but she is no sellout.

The PNC has factions and Amna is a part of the David Granger, Joe Harmon and Roysdale Forde faction. I see nothing wrong with that. That faction lost control of the leadership of the party and they stepped away in silence but did not leave the PNC. They chose not to support the present leadership but as I understand, they did not work to undermine it.

We are approaching party elections and Roysdale Forde has signaled his intention to challenge Norton for the leadership. He has every right to make that bid and to enjoy the support of a faction of the party. The PNC is known for its democratic principles and transparency when it comes to who wishes to lead it.

It simplistic and dangerous, wicked and dreadful and disingenuous, dishonest and disgusting for anyone in the party to allude to Roysdale Forde, Amna Ally and that faction, as PPP operatives. Any leader in the PNC that goes to that extent to say that, is dangerous and deceitful and has brought the party to new low. It is an unforgivable and shameful act.

We are heading for party elections and anyone who is eligible to run for office should be allowed to do so without being seen as undermining the party and causing division. The PNC does not need a maximum leader who believes that they must not be challenged. I end by repeating that former General Secretary of the PNC and former coalition minister, Amna Ally is not racist and will not work with the PPP covertly or otherwise to undermine the PNC. It is only a desperate and depraved mind that will conjure up such ridiculous views for whatever reasons.

Sincerely,

Norman Browne
