Two security guards, Mahendranaught Swamber, 60-year-old of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway and Gershon Sproston, 48-year-old, of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway were arrested on April13, 2024 and jointly charged with the possession of a 12-gauge shotgun, possession of eight 12-gauge cartridges and two empty 12-gauge cartridges without a licence.
The police say that the duo appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Tuesday to answer the charges.
Swamber pleaded guilty to the possession of firearm charge and was sentenced to one year imprisonment and not guilty to the other charges. Sproston pleaded not guilty to all charges and was granted bail in the sum of $200,000.
This matter was adjourned to May 30, 2024.
