Blurred roles by gov’t, opposition

Dear Editor,

Statements and comments by the OL repeatedly speak of an APNU+AFC coalition as forming the next government. But AFC exited the coalition and is only tied to it in Parliament. The roles are blurred since the OL wears several hats – leader of the opposition, leader of PNC and leader of APNU.  So when he goes out into communities don in party colours is he out there as OL or party leader?

The same can be said about the weekly press conferences of the ruling side held at the party’s HQ, where the GS who is also VP speaks more about government business. The AFC has been quiet on the utterances made regarding its role in the coalition outside of Parliament. Of course by not saying anything it is keeping its options open.  Was a quiet deal done which brought the AFC back into the coalition fold?

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
