The Guyana Fire Service has expanded its fleet with the addition of two foreign used fire tenders.

Donated by Jumbo Jet Truck and Auto Sales at a value of $40 million, the appliances were handed over to Minister of Home Affairs,  Robeson Benn, and Chief Fire Officer Gregory Wickham by Roy Jafarally of Jumbo Jet.

A release from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that Benn expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its significant contribution to enhancing the preparedness and response capabilities of the GFS.

The release said that he emphasized the importance of corporate support, particularly in light of the challenges posed by the lengthy El Niño dry season.  Benn also cited  the government’s ongoing efforts to procure additional appliances to further strengthen the fleet’s efficiency and capability.

The newly acquired tenders will be deployed in Regions 5 and 6 to bolster firefighting and rescue operations in those areas.
