The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has contracted a local entity, SRKN’gineering and Associates Limited, to serve as consultants for the design of its Blue Water Shipping Stadium at Durban Park.
This was confirmed at a press conference at the entity’s Section K Campbellville headquarters. According to GFF President Wayne Forde, the service agreement will cost US$156,000, or GYD$31,000,000.
The venue will continue to receive support from FIFA and CONCACAF after the government leased the federation the 7.3 acres of land for 50 years. It is expected to seat in the vicinity of 12,000 patrons and feature modern amenities.
Forde said, “It was a natural fit to solicit their services for the Blue Water Shipping Stadium. SRKN is a highly reputable company operating in Guyana.”
“While there is a huge national deficit for good-quality football infrastructure right across Guyana, I must acknowledge and applaud the efforts being made by the Government of Guyana to aggressively remedy this situation”, he further said.
Meanwhile, Blue Water Senior Vice President of Operations Jennifer Falconer stated that the facility will have a transformative impact on the local football landscape, noting that she is pleased with the design concept of the venue.
