(Jamaica Gleaner) Two brothers were shot and killed while playing a game of dominoes at a shop in the community of Burnt Savannah in Westmoreland on Saturday night.

They have been identified as 44-year-old auto mechanic Damion Powell, otherwise called ‘Donkey Knee’ and 42-year-old businessman Collin ‘Gary’ Daley,  both from the community.

A 61-year-old man who was shot and injured has been hospitalised.

Reports from the Westmoreland police are that shortly after 9 p.m., Powell and Daley were among a group of men playing dominoes when they were pounced upon by two men on a motorcycle.

The attackers reportedly opened gunfire on the group.

The police say after the shooting ended, the brothers were found unresponsive on the ground with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

The elderly man was shot in his right leg.

The killings bring to 37, the number of murders recorded in the parish since the start of this year.

The shooting came hours after a march for peace in another section of the parish, which has been troubled by a flare-up in gang violence

These figures also increase the total number of murders committed within Zone two of the Westmoreland police division to 17. The zone covers the areas served by the Morgan Bridge and Frome police stations.
