Police support ‘Settlement of All Arguments’ street-ball championship

The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in the form of Divisional Commander #4B Krishna Ramana, has thrown their support behind the ‘Settlement of All Arguments’ Streetball Championship, which is pencilled to commence tonight at the Mocha Community Centre ground, by donating the championship and most valuable player (MVP) trophies.

This was confirmed by a press release from the organising committee. According to the release, Commander #4B Ramana donated the winners’ trophy, while Deputy Superintendent Wayne De Hearte donated the MVP award.

Ramana stated that the Independence Championship aims to restore community togetherness, minimise the idleness of young gifted athletes, and build healthy partnerships between the Police Force and the youths of all communities through sports to foster a safer and more secure Guyana.

The three-day event, which will utilise a direct elimination format, will feature 24 teams from various communities and regions battling for over $400,000 in prizes. The other playing dates are May 24th (quarterfinals) and 26th (semifinals and finals).

The competing teams, which emanate from various environments and comprise a maximum of seven players, are: Family, Ballerz Empire, Agricola Ballers, Timehri Ballers, Red Force, Unstoppable, Make it Happen, Back Circle B, Five ‘O’, Slugs, Laing Avenue Ballers, Back Circle A, Festival City, North East La Penitence, Young City, Lodge All-Stars, Beterverwagting Ballers, LA Ballers B, Stabroek Ballers, Victoria Eagles, Genesis, North Ruimveldt, TMT, and Talibans.

The other sponsors of the event include Big Smith News Watch, Reliable Graphics Design, Shahab Hack and Sons, Panther Security, Secure Innovations and Concept, Mantra Restaurant and Bar, Green Ice Taxi, Dr. Joshua Kanhai, and the Mocha Arcadia NDC.
