Three months after Pretty Posse taxi driver, Eon Holder, was gunned down by two unknown persons, the Guyana Police Force in release stated that they have arrested two men, a 50-year-old and a 30-year-old, both of Queen Street, South Cummingsburg, for the murder.

Stabroek News reached out to the mother of Holder, Muriel Holder, who said she had been informed via a post on Facebook that an arrest was made. The newspaper also spoke to the girlfriend of Holder, Tiffany Worrell, who said that police did not inform them that an arrest was made “I just hope is the right persons and they will not try to pin it on anybody,” was her response when asked for a comment.

The incident occurred at around 05.30 hours on February 24, on Alexander Street.

Holder was working his motor car, PRR 271, when he was hired by a 50-year-old businessman of Queenstown, Georgetown, to go to the Bourda Market to purchase vegetables. On arrival at Alexander Street, the businessman exited the car and proceeded to walk towards Bourda Market, leaving Holder to looking for a parking space.

Several minutes later, the businessman heard a loud explosion and as he looked back, he saw the taxi driver lying motionless on the ground about 15 feet away from his car, and two men – one armed with a handgun – were seen running away from the scene.

An ambulance was summoned and the taxi driver was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was examined and what appeared to be a gunshot wound was seen on his face.
