Demerara Harbour Bridge apologises for extended opening yesterday

The management of the Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation (DHBC) is apologising to commuters for the extended opening of the bridge yesterday, GINA said, attributing this to work that was needed to prevent a section of the structure from  collapsing.

Nine held in Rasville after police find ammo, ecstasy pills

Police during a search, early this morning of several apartments in Rasville, Georgetown, detained nine persons inclusive of three females, after they found sixteen live rounds of different calibres of ammunition and one hundred and eighty ecstasy pills.

Pardoned clerk charged again with stealing from court

Tiffany Peters, a former court clerk who was pardoned by President David Granger last year after she was convicted for stealing $3.2 million from the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts Registry, was yesterday faced with a new charge alleging that she also stole $1.1 million from the registry.

Minibus driver charged with cuffing traffic cop

A minibus driver was on Wednesday charged with seven offences, including, the assault of a cop on duty, while his conductor was charged with obstructing the officer from carrying out his duties and the use of indecent language.
