US Ambassador-designate arrives

New United States Ambassador-designate Perry Holloway arrived in Guyana on Thursday and he will be shortly presenting his credentials to President David Granger.

Granger discusses border controversy with India PM

President David Granger on Thursday held talks with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he began the first of a series of bilateral meetings with visiting Heads of Government participating in the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Technical glitch

A technical glitch that occurred on Thursday, September 24, 2015 saw the pages of the print edition for Friday, September 25, 2015 being placed in the wrong order. 

PPP pillories Surujbally over fake Statements of Poll

The opposition PPP today pilloried the Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Dr Steve Surujbally for a statement to Stabroek News that it would be impossible to prove who inserted fake statements of poll into the verification process at GECOM headquarters during the May 11 General Elections.

Engineer’s report needed before work resumes at airport industrial death site

Following the death of one worker and injury to another at the airport, China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) will have to submit an engineer’s report to the Labour Department of the Ministry of Social Protection declaring the area safe, before work can recommence, according to junior Minister Simona Broomes who also revealed that in the company’s agreement no provision was made for the safety of workers.
