Two remanded over Kurupung drugs find

Two men who were arrested at Kurupung Landing, Mazaruni after police allegedly found a quantity of cocaine and ganja in a shop they were in, on Thursday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and were remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.

Zero-rated 40 unveiled

Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh last night unveiled a list of 40 more zero-rated items including dried blackeye peas, cooking salt, all locally produced uncooked meats including salted fish, sanitary napkins and local river and air transport.

Newly Zero-Rated Items

1. Cooking oil 2. Goods when imported by a budget agency named in the schedule to the Fiscal Management and Accountability Act 2003 3.
