MIT student who won 2021 Rhodes Scholarship has Jamaican heritage

(Jamaica Observer) Danielle Grey-Stewart, one of two Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) students selected for the 2021 cohort of the Rhodes Scholarship programme, has Jamaican heritage.

Jamaicans make NBA Draft, traded to Pistons and Hornets

(Jamaica Observer) Two Jamaicans, including former Jamaica College stand out Nick Richards, were selected on Wednesday’s National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Draft that was conducted virtually for the first time due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness sits with Tahjay Rowe, a boy who suffered brain damage at birth, during a visit to the family’s home in July 2018. Holness made a donation to Tahjay’s mother, Tasha Howell. A Supreme Court ruling for the family to receive a $40-million payout has been quashed.

No $40M payout for Jamaican boy with brain damage

(Jamaica Gleaner) The Court of Appeal has quashed a 2015 ruling of the Supreme Court that had awarded approximately $40 million to the family of 16-year-old Tahjay Rowe, who sustained brain damage when he was born at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital.
