Dear Editor, Guyana and Belize have a lot in common. Belize is the only English-speaking country in Central  America while the Co-operative Republic is the only English-speaking state in South America. 

Dear Editor, Your Sunday issue reported two more bikers dead: one was unlicensed, the other’s bike was unregistered.

Dear Editor, It is sad to see people who applied for a low-income house lot being pushed around not just for years, but for decades.

Dear Editor Is anyone watching? Today, as I traversed the Embankment Road between LBI and Georgetown I was appalled to note that this major road is replete with potholes (craters).

Dear Editor, The visitor who remarked in the letter to the press that, to an extent, the character of people is reflected in their conduct in traffic, for what it is worth, can take comfort in the empathy many residents share with that observation.

Dear Editor, It would be useful if the Minister of Housing for the sake of public convenience made application forms for house lots in Region Two available at all the Neighbourhood Democratic Council offices in the district.

Dear Editor, I penned this letter almost two months ago but delayed submitting it, for no specific reason.

Dear Editor, The National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) wishes to respond to several issues raised by Mr Mohamed Khan in a letter captioned ‘Follow-up on red-mite disease in coconuts needs to be done’, that was published in Stabroek News on June 6.

Dear Editor, The use of marijuana for recreational purposes cannot be a “good” thing.

Dear Editor, A little over a week ago on Sunday evening (May 29) I was casually browsing the television channels looking for something interesting to relieve my boredom when, by chance, I came upon a programme on TVG Channel 28, titled ‘The Factor’ hosted by Mr Neaz Subhan, who was interviewing Mr Ravi Dev, Mr David Hinds, and Mr Juan Edghill.

Dear Editor, I thank Mr Nowrang Persaud for his kind words – ‘Extraneous considerations should be avoided when selecting or promoting staff’ (SN, June 6). 

Dear Editor, The report that a hand grenade was thrown at the parked vehicle of Kaieteur News owner and publisher, Mr Glen Lall, is unsettling and a reminder that the Guyanese society since the rise of the criminal state under the PPP/C’s 23-year rule, is vulnerable to criminal conduct.

Dear Editor, June 5th was a day of perfect spring weather in New York, a day to go out in shirtsleeves.

Dear Editor, I join with all Guyanese in condemning the act of terror with respect to the throwing of the grenade at the vehicle of Kaieteur News publisher, Glen Lall.

Dear Editor, For those of us who have lived to experience and to celebrate the Guyana Golden Jubilee of Independence, the following poem, The Work of Christmas by Dr Howard Thurman (1899-1981) may be aptly transposed in the present context of the real work of the Golden Jubilee for all of us as Guyanese.
