Letters to the Editor

Leave the bad habits behind for the New Year

Dear Editor, Instead of making another batch of New Year’s resolutions that you’re probably going to break before January comes to a close, consider the following bad habits and which of these you might want to let go.

Soldiers should remain professionals

Dear Editor, I have often contended that in years to come when Guyanese in another dispensation can look back with some clarity of thought they will arrive at some unpleasant conclusions.

Personal reflections on 2013

Dear Editor, A critical look back at 2013 would reveal that even while there may have been physical progress (building of schools, hospitals, roads), as a nation, we have not managed to move forward with issues.

The army may well take over the government in Thailand

Dear Editor, Regarding your news report ‘Thai Opposition Party to boycott election’ (SN, Dec 22), it is clear from analyses of Thai politics that elections are unlikely to be held in February, and I would be surprised if the armed forces don’t take over the government very soon with the blessing of the monarchy, as usually happens when the interests of the wealthy are threatened.

The government continuously disrespects Guyanese

Dear Editor, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon’s recent letter published in SN on December 25 captioned ‘The Government of Guyana was not consulted on the USAID project’ reflects the kind of sentiments Guyanese feel when Luncheon’s PPP/C government abuses its power.
