Dear Editor, In ‘Does the PPP really have a fear of the PNC?‘

Dear Editor, The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Dr Nanda Gopaul must be commended for his initiative to come up with a national minimum wage for the nation’s workers, in particular private sector employees, a significant number of whom are not unionized and are therefore left at the mercy of employers who at times are inclined to take advantage of their non-unionized status and pay them way below what is considered fair and reasonable.

Dear Editor, The opposition has demanded a national minimum wage scheme and now the PPP is apparently listening.

Dear Editor, The year 2012 for me ended with some wonderful, interesting and serious articles in your Dec 29 and 30 editions, the authors of which I would like to commend; they are deserving of a star, or better yet, in West Indies cricket lingo – six runs!

Dear Editor, When I saw the photograph of Akeem Charles, the GDF soldier lying on the concrete floor almost naked some weeks ago, Abu Ghraib immediately raced to my mind.

Dear Editor, From the inception I was pleased with the selection of the Guyana T20 team even though it was done without the inter-county playoffs that would have given the selectors a better insight into its composition.

Dear Editor, I wish to commend the decision taken by the Ministry of Local Government to come to the rescue of the city council to rid the city of the piles of garbage that have been accumulating in the city.

Dear Editor, For some time now we have been reading stories of murder, suicide, serious assault on citizens, break and enter, the stabbing of a city constable at Bourda Market as he attempted to prevent three bandits from breaking into stalls and fatal accidents, not to mention the high level of corrupt activity, and conflict of interest in high places – the list can continue.
