Thoughts on current affairs
Dear Editor, 1. Mr Granger has indicated that he wants to be president and hopes that the PNCR will nominate him for that position.
Dear Editor, 1. Mr Granger has indicated that he wants to be president and hopes that the PNCR will nominate him for that position.
Dear Editor, I refer to an article in KN dated October 2 on the subject ‘Works on $3 Billion Hope/Dochfour Canal begin’ and to a statement from the lead consultant from Cemco stating that the terrain between the crown dam and the EDWC is creating serious problems for the consultants and that the drilling rig keeps sinking in the soil.
Dear Editor, We welcome the launch of the month of the elderly under the theme ‘Working for the elderly, celebrating their contribution to Guyana.’
Dear Editors, I had to look twice at the headline which proclaimed that the police were “warning” gangs to behave, to convince myself that such a statement was actually made.
Dear Editor, I have been following up your coverage of the performance of the Skeldon Sugar Factory and the commentaries from your readers.
Dear Editor, It’s not my intention to dispute the achievements of Guyana’s Senior National Coach in relation to his successes locally and regionally, or his certification – an English FA’B’ licence, as outlined by Bilaal Eusi Nantambu in a letter published in SN on October 1 captioned ‘Wayne Dover is the most successful coach in Guyana,’ since an individual is entitled to express his own opinion.
Dear Editor, When I saw the caption ‘Death penalty “spectacular failure” in crime fight’ (SN, August 18), I had a good laugh and decided to read the article later.
Dear Editor, Does the National Communications Network have a policy regarding the rebroadcasting of programmes, especially those that are produced right here in Berbice?
Dear Editor, I recently returned from overseas and read with disbelief and horror of the state of the City Hall, one of our most historic buildings.
Dear Editor, I am devastated at the death of sixteen year old Neesa Gopaul; her life was senselessly cut short, allegedly over material things.
Dear Editor, Did Mr Fip Motilall of Synergy just equate building 13 miles of road in Georgia and 9 miles in Florida for a grand total of 22 miles of road in subdivisions in developed and urban areas to “significant road building experience”?
Dear Editor, A storm in a teacup is being raised by some PPP supporters over the announcement that Brigadier Granger is interested in being the PNC’s presidential candidate in the 2011 general elections.
Dear Editor, If information provided in the article published in the Guyana Review on September 30 under the caption ‘Donald Ramotar – last man standing’ is true, then that article itself provides ample reason why Mr Ramotar should not be the PPP’s presidential candidate in the 2011 election.
Dear Editor, I refer to attorney Vic Puran’s letter titled: ‘The 1973 elections are a festering sore on the conscience of the nation,’ (SN September 3).
Dear Editor, I will state immediately at the outset, that while I was a member of the PPP, I was the political protege of Moses Nagamootoo, who was the most popular PPP leader outside of the Jagans, due largely to his accompanying Cheddi Jagan on most of his outreach meetings over the years, his penchant for public speaking and his ability to rouse the crowds for Cheddi to address afterwards.
Dear Editor, Mr Lionel Peters seems bent on misrepresenting the facts regarding the selection of presidential candidates (‘Janet Jagan announced she would be the presidential candidate in 1997’ SN, October 2).
Dear Editor, The letter by Sasenarine Singh captioned ‘Granger should recognize that the PNC needs to come clean on its past’ (SN, October 4) refers.
Dear Editor, As far as could be surmised Guyanese of all ethnic groups rightfully believe that experience and preparedness are essential qualities when considering a presidential candidate.
Dear Editor, A response to some of the fallacies and half truths contained in your letter columns `The PPP has spent billions in Linden over the past 18 years’ SN Sept 30, 2010 over the signature of RDC – Region 10 Councillor Andrew Forsythe is sorely needed, since it seems that we live in two different communities known by the same names, Linden and Region 10, Mr.
Dear Editor, On numerous occasions, government officials especially those at the Ministry of Home Affairs condemn any criticism of the security forces as unhelpful and harbouring devious intentions.
