Dear Editor, About a month ago, minibus drivers blocked the road near the Abary Bridge after they believed that they were disenfranchised by the police in relation to new restrictions and regulations that they would have to comply with.

Dear Editor, In my last letter titled ‘It is time we start telling the truth about ourselves’ dated October 14, I called on the Guyanese people to face the music and start telling the truth about themselves.

Dear Editor, If one grew up in the 1970s Guyana is still the country of greatest unfulfilled potential in the Caribbean.

Dear Editor, Recently I had the opportunity to review an English university master’s thesis on ‘Study Support’ which, according to a 1989 publication of the UK Department for Education and Employment (DfEE), ‘Extending Opportunity: National Framework for Study Support,’ is “learning activity outside normal lessons which young people take part in voluntarily.”

Dear Editor, Mr Hamilton Green says that China’s Liu Xiaobo did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize (SN, October 13).

Dear Editor, All effective managers know that in the process of commissioning a new plant or activity to replace an old but working plant or activity, the rule is never decommission the old plant/activity until the new one is operational and staffed with workers who know what they are doing.

Dear Editor, Once again CNN took centre stage as it brought to us the dramatic rescue of the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped in the bowels of the earth some 2000ft under for over 69 days.

Dear Editor, I had an office at Rose Hall, Corentyne, and had to close it after a short period.

Dear Editor, China has every right to be annoyed over the Nobel Peace Prize given to the dissident Liu Xiaobo; that award was made purposely to embarrass China, I am certain the committee responsible for giving the prize was pressured by the US and other Western powers.

Dear Editor, Permit me to comment on the Chief Labour Officer’s statement refuting a claim by the Guyana Bauxite & General Workers Union that he was “a no show” at a scheduled meeting on October, 7, 2010.

Dear Editor, Regardless of how one feels about the Clico mess in the Caribbean, and I have no financial interest in it, the governments of Guyana and Trinidad must be applauded for addressing the issue head on in finding a solution to what is an intractable problem. 

Dear Editor, Being a bicyclist, I find it very easy not only to observe the blatant traffic violations by every category of commuter on our roads, but also the litterbugs, potential pickpockets, paucity of road traffic signs, potholes, road encumbrances, overgrown/clogged canals/ drains, etc.

Dear Editor, I am a resident of Melanie Damishana on the East Coast of Demerara and I wish to air my displeasure with regard to a drainage structure that was rebuilt a number of years ago.

Dear Editor, Battered nation syndrome. I have never witnessed a nation so seemingly content with the battering, pillage, abuse and victimization by its politicians as Guyana.

Dear Editor, Nothing can make up for the last tortured year of Neesa Gopaul’s life and the failure of  adults to give her the help she asked for; the least we can do now is to face her without defensiveness, scapegoating and/or political game-playing.
