Cunha Canal cannot supply drainage simultaneously for the conservancy and farmland

Dear Editor, Delivering the feature address at the launching of the Cunha Canal Rehabilitation Project (CCRP) on Feb 4, Minister of Agriculture Noel Holder stated that the Cunha Canal located on the East Bank of Demerara is intended to serve two purposes: firstly, to drain farmlands located in the villages of Kuru Kururu, Coverden, Pearl and Sarah Johanna; and secondly, to relieve flood water from the East Demerara Water Conservancy (EDWC) into the Demerara River.
