The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport has decided to scrap a fund-raising drive by its social committee for a Christmas party, after concerns were raised about letters soliciting donations sent to contractors used by the ministry.

Dear Editor, The editorial in the Sunday Stabroek of December 11 is a most troubling one for its attack on the APNU and its main constituent forces, the PNC and the WPA.

Dear Editor, Young Voices is an organization which offers young persons with disabilities (PWDS) in developing countries the opportunity to empower themselves and change the way disability is viewed.

Dear Editor, In SN of Saturday, December 10, 2011, Ian McDonald came up with a curious bit of fact-finding, albeit in the ‘integrity’ of the election – a descriptor, so far as I recall, not found in any of the published sections of the reports by the observer teams.

Dear Editor, With reference to Mike Persaud’s letter (‘While the PPP/C won the presidency, they did not win the elections’ SN, December 12), my tabulation never mentioned anything about who won the government or otherwise (‘An interesting statistic’ SN, December 7). 

Dear Editor, I was in awe with regard to the organisation and competition in the just concluded four-day Diamond Mineral Water Indoor Hockey Tournament which concluded on Sunday 11, 2011 at the National Gymnasium.

Dear Editor, Now that the voting populace of Guyana has spoken, they would undoubtedly wish to see a return to normalcy in our country, so that the continuous and accelerated development to which we of the PPP/C committed in our 2011 election manifesto and to which decent and progressive Guyanese eagerly look forward, can begin to be realized.
