Gunmen on Monday robbed the proprietor of a jewellery shop and his customer of more than $400,000 in cash and jewels.
Julian ‘Nan Nan’ Rhodius, 23, of Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, was in his shop with customer Deonarine, called Chubby, at about 4 pm when a man entered and began to enquire about the jewels.
Police, in a press release, said the man whipped out a gun and held up the two men. His two accomplices then barged into the store and proceeded to ransack the premises. The men stole $282,000 in cash and jewellery from Rhodius and $120,000 in cash from Deonarine then made good their escape.
The release said police in ‘C’ Division are investigating.
