The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) in collaboration with the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Education will conduct a “Beginners Table Tennis Coaching Programme for Secondary School Students” beginning today.

The programme will be held at the Cliff Anderson Sport Hall and ends on Feburary9.

The times for the sessions are from 10:00 to 11:00, 11:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 14:00 from Mondays to Fridays.

A GTTA release stated that the objective of the program is to develop and improve the level of table tennis in schools while helping students with the basic skills that will better help them prepare for future tournaments.

Also, the GTTA hoped that the coaching programme would help to increase the number of participants involved in table tennis.

The coaching program will be for students between the age of 12 and 16 years old.

Only 16 students (8 boys and 8 girls) will be allowed from each school with each school entitled to two sessions at one hour per session.
