Vehicle hijacked, Patsan workers robbed of $3M

Police on the East Coast are investigating an armed robbery which occurred on the Lusignan Railway Embankment during which a canter belonging to Patsan Trading Company was stolen and a metal canister containing $3M later removed.

The motor canter was later found abandoned at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara without the metal canister that was in the cab of the vehicle which contained proceeds from the day’s sales.

In a release police said that they are investigating the incident which occurred about 2.40 pm during which the driver and two porters attached to Patsan Trading Company were attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.

Investigations have so far revealed that Roy Gonsalves, 28 years of Water Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara, a driver/salesman with Patsan Trading, accompanied by two porters Raymond Lall and Yogeshwar Narine of Kitty, were making deliveries to customers in motor canter GGG 4343 when a white AT 192 motor car with three men inside drove up and blocked their path.

Two of the men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, came out of the vehicle and held up the three employees. They forced the trio out of the canter, took away a cell phone from each of them and then drove away with the vehicle.

Police are continuing their investigations.
