Reynold Samuels was elected Toshao of the Santa Aratak Village Council after capturing 50 votes in elections held last Saturday at the Santa Mission Primary School.
According to a release from the Regional Administration Office of Region Three(Essequibo Islands/West Demerara), a total of 110 votes were cast in the elections from the official list of electors numbering 168. Aubrey Samuels mustered 40 votes, while Neville Gouveia obtained 18 votes, the release stated.
The release also stated that six councillors were elected to serve on the village council and these include Sharon DeFreitas, Reginald Patterson, Joel Daniels, Compton Samuels, Roseann Samuels and Alison Samuels.
The polls were conducted by Regional Executive Officer (REO), Region Three, Nandlall Ramkissoonand were witnessed by Region Three Chairman, Julius Faerber, Assistant REO Surendra Khayyam and Information Officer, Jaidev Dudhnath, the release stated.
