Rain pushes back inter-county cricket

Heavy rain yesterday forced the indefinite rescheduling of today’s  first round double-header of the Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) Senior Inter-county four-day competition.

The rain left many parts of the city flooded as well as the playing venues in and out of Georgetown. The first two matches would have seen Demerara and the GCB President’s XI doing battle at the Enmore Community Centre Ground while Essequibo and Berbice would have locked horns at the Demerara Cricket Club ground.

Along with the abrupt halt of the four-day fixtures, the Demerara Cricket Board’s Over-40 20 overs-a-side semi-final round slated to get underway yesterday was also put off  until further notice.

Upon the conclusion of the senior tournament, selectors will then pick the team for  next year’s Regional Super 50 competition and the four-day format.
