Five months have already passed since my 9 year old son, Ramesh Loaknauth was the victim of a fatal accident on the public road near to his home at Dryshore, Essequibo Coast.
A speeding hire car (number given) was involved in the incident which occurred on August 7, 2006 and on to this day, the police are still not in a position to reveal the outcome of their investigations.
My efforts as the father of the child to ascertain any information from the relevant authorities in this matter were just useless.
The unbearable pushing around which was least expected gives me the distinct impression that it was not within my right to do so and it would have been much better for me to remain silent all the time.
A report was first made at Aurora Station and I am sick of checking between there and the divisional headquarters at Anna Regina with no positive response.
From my own contact at the DPP’s office I have learnt that the file was sent back ever since to the police whose concern is questionable and leaves much to be desired.
Whatever is the nature of the advice given by the D.P.P. will be accepted in good faith by me with great relief to my growing frustration and stress to know what’s really going on.
There is nothing to hide and it is whether or not the driver who was arrested and released on station bail will be prosecuted for having committed any offence whatsoever.
