Attempted murder case discharged

A United States-based Guyanese was all smiles on Monday at the Blairmont Court when Magistrate Geeta Chandan informed him that a case of attempted murder had been discharged against him.

It is alleged that on June 18 at Shieldstown, West Bank Berbice, Lewis Mc Calmon attempted to murder Clifford Rawlins. According to the facts of the case, Lewis who returned home for a relative’s funeral, got angry after Rawlins mentioned something offensive about his mother and then he reportedly wounded him.

The matter which was fixed for preliminary inquiry was discharged after Lewis turned up on about 15 occasions and the prosecution could not give a date as to when they would be ready to commence.
