Mr Corbin should ask the PPP to acknowledge that much of the violent crime is related to the drug trade

Dear Editor,

I, like many Guyanese, feel a deep sense of hurt that Guyana has again seen the type of violence that occurred at Lusignan. However, the PNCR does not have to apologize to the Guyanese people for the PPP/C administration’s failure to deal with criminal activity in the country. President Jagdeo has to be told in no uncertain terms that he has failed ignominiously in curbing crime at every level.

He must be told that he has to publicly acknowledge that Guyana is a narco-state, and that much of the violent crime in the country is related to the drug trade. He must also publicly acknowledge that the government was willing to lease a substantial piece of land to a company owned by Roger Khan for timber production.

The PPP/C also have to be reminded that the well trained soldiers of the GDF during the Burnham era did not have to bulldoze the cane fields when they went after elements of the PPP that were burning them. They were trained to go in and flush out hostile elements from all types of hiding places, including cane fields, rice fields, and heavily forested areas. The Commodore should also take note of this fact. Heaven help his forces if they have to fight in the jungles of Guyana.

The PPP/C does not have the record, or moral authority to scold the PNCR on issues pertaining to law and order, their administration has done nothing to preserve it in Guyana.

Yours faithfully,
