Elishaba Johnson captures 10 years and under title

Top seed Elishaba Johnson won his first national title when he defeated Narvin Sankar to capture the boys’ 10-years and under title as the national Table Tennis championships sponsored by the National Sports Commission continued yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Johnson defeated Sankar in straight games 11-7, 13-11, 11-4. Third place went to Obediah Stanton.

In the 10-years and under girls’ category, Analisa Branche defeated Tiara Naraine to take the top spot in the three-player round robin final with Sarah Naraine taking third place.

The other category decided was in the boys’ eight-years-and-under category where Dexter D’Anjou defeated Khalil Ninvalle 3-0 to take the top spot ahead of Ninvalle in the round robin final.

The championships will continue today with play in the boys’ and girls’ 13, 15 and 18 years and under categories.

The boys’ and girls’ and mixed doubles events will also be contested.
