A Guyana Water Incor-porated (GWI)-contracted disconnection team was yesterday attacked and robbed by bandits who brandished handguns and cutlasses in a section of the Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara community.
Stabroek News was told that the men were doing their jobs when the bandits attacked them and took away jewellery they were wearing as well as money.
This newspaper was also told that one of the contractors was beaten by the men and had to be treated at a city hospital. Police at Ruimveldt reportedly arrested a suspect who investigations have revealed may have been an informant for the gunmen.
