Aroaima employee dies in accident

An employee of the Aroaima Mining Company lost his life yesterday while on duty after the vehicle he was travelling in overturned killing him almost instantly.

Dead is Kevin Major, 36, of South Amelia’s Ward Linden, who was formerly a minibus driver known as ‘Bush Cat.’

Other persons in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Details as to exactly how the accident occurred were sketchy up to press time last night. However this newspaper was told that relatives received a call that Major had been killed either on a mining site or in the company’s compound. One relative said the man was working the 7 am to 7 pm shift.

This newspaper was also told that it was only at the end of last year that Major had stopped working as a minibus driver and had gone to work with the company. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his passing.
