A new Mayor’s Cup champion team will be crowned tonight when Alpha United takes on Fruta Conquerors at the Tucville Playfield from 9pm.
While Alpha United will be appearing in their first Mayor’s Cup final, Fruta Conquerors can be considered old stagers having played in three previous finals, winning the competition twice.
Alpha United has the better record of the two teams in this competition. They have scored nine goals so far and have yet to concede one.
Fruta Conquerors on the other hand, have scored five goals whilst letting in three.
Spearheading Alpha’s line-up will be Elton Browne, Quincy Madramootoo, and Sean `Fatso’ Bishop while Fruta Conquerors’ charge will be led by Devon `Peasy’ Forde with support from Jomo Hinds, Lester Peters and Delon Williams.
The winners will receive $500,000 and the runners up $200,000.
In the third-place play-off, Sunburst Camptown will clash with Uprising.
