Berbice cricket resumes after break for rain

After a four-month suspension due to the rainy season, the Berbice Cricket Board organized 2007/2008 Isaac Bissoon First Division competition will resume today and will continue tomorrow.

In today’s match-ups, Blairmont Community Centre will play host to Young Warriors at Blairmont with Rafik Lattiff and Asif Jaipaul officiating in a Zone A clash. Zone B action will see Port Mourant Cricket Club going against Albion Community Centre at Port Mourant under the guidance of Gangapersaud Shivdyal and Tony Mendonca and Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar playing Scotsburg United at Rose Hall Town Area H ground. Dhieranidranauth Somwaru and Orwin Archer are the men in charge of this fixture.

All matches starting today will continue tomorrow and conclude next Saturday.

All of tomorrow’s matches are Zone A fixtures and will see Rose Hall Community Centre playing West Berbice at Rose Hall Community Centre ground with Roashan Moakan and Goonarine Ramdeo officiating, while Police Sports Club will take on Bermine Cricket Club at Cumberland under the guidance of Joseph Simon and Goonarine Ramdeo.

All matches will continue next Saturday and conclude the following day and will commence at 10:30 hrs each day.

Meanwhile, the TELENEC 50 over First Division competition will also commence today with the final Zone A preliminary round match. Police Sports Club will go up against Rose Hall Community Centre at the latter ground with the winner being guaranteed the last available spot in the semi-finals.

Young Warriors with seven points are assured of finishing in the top two of the zone irrespective of the outcome of this match as both Police and Rose Hall have six points each. This match will commence at 09:30hrs.
