All rain, no play

Persistent rainfall entirely washed out the second day of the four-day final between GNIC and Malteenoes in the Cellink Plus First Division 3 Day Competition at the Guyana Cricket Board Ground, Bourda (GCC).

GNIC managed to get to 205 – 9 at stumps on day one with Ejaz Mohammed scoring a half century and captain Rayon Griffith 49 with Malteenoes leg spinner Damien VanTull on 4 – 49.
Grounds men at work; their efforts were in vain as the second day was a no play due to rain.A ground assessment was done at 13:00 hrs and given that the pitch was covered the umpires said they would like a possible start at 14:00 hrs but drizzles continued forcing the day to be cancelled.
If play continues, Malteenoes skipper Steven Jacobs said they would be looking to get the final wicket and at least take first innings points if an out-right win is not on the cards to lift the Cellink Plus Trophy at the conclusion of the game.
