GFC edges Santos as Pele and GDF play to draw

Action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Cellink Plus sponsored Premier League football competition continued Friday night at the Tucville ground with Georgetown Football Club (GFC) inflicting a 1-0 defeat on Santos Football Club while the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Pele Football club played to a nil all stalemate.
In the first game which began at 6:00pm, Delroy Henry ensured Santos registered their first win of the competition scoring in the 64th minute.
Even though GFC searched for the equalizer, Santos’s defence stood up to the task to ensure the lead remained intact at the final whistle.
In the feature game, Pele and GDF displayed some exceptional football skills and it was rather unfortunate that at the shrill of the referee’s whistle, neither team had found the back of the net.
Action will continue this afternoon at the Tucville ground with Sunburst Camptown taking on Uprising from 1800hrs, whilst defending champions Alpha ‘ the hammer’ United will be looking for a turn around in fortunes after their loss to GDF when they oppose home team Fruta Conquerors from 2000hrs.
