Each school was represented by a team of three students.
Competing from QC were Elson Low, Roberta Ferguson and Avonella Henry and from Annandale Secondary the contestants were Clinton Duncan, Nuriyyih Gerrard and Oslyn Solomon.

The competitors were each required to select a topic from a basket provided, think for one minute and then deliver a three-minute speech. The contestants were given points based on a number of criteria.

Avonella Henry gained the title of best presenter throughout the 14-week competition. Henry’s impromptu skills were truly tested when she was asked to deliver a one-minute speech on: “If you could speak to the president what advice would you give him?”

The teen promptly replied that she would ask the president what his plans for Guyana were because as a youth she is concerned about her future. Annandale’s Duncan also made solid points when he addressed the issue of the “ideal age”.
